Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. Earlier this month I went to my surgeons support group. THe topic was on how to survive the holiday season and endless stream of food.
A couple of suggestions really hit home.
1st ask for a small salad plate and small fork(maybe and appetizer fork). Less food per bite.
If it is a potluck or brng something type meal. Bring something you know you can have and not feel guilty about eating it.
After you have finished eating and you have food left over, cover your plate with a napkin or remove the plate to the kitchen.
GO for a quick walk after eating with the family. THis will help with burning your calories.
If there is a dish that dear old Aunt Sally makes and you get it once a year. Have a little and ask for hte recipe. THen you don't feel obligated to pig out because you will miss out until next year.
I thought some of these were great ideas.

My family always plays a couple games of volleyball on Christmas Eve, so I can do that instead of taking a walk.
And I'm going to try one of Michelle's crustless quiche's as my contribution to the buffet line, so there is another plus. Oh wait...I'll be on my liquid diet at that time LOL I guess I can still take it, that way everyone else can benefit from it.

Get into games (Pictionary is a blast) and conversations (Favorite Gift Ever is fun or Favorite Christmas Movie/Song) and take the emphasis off the food.
