Thank you Sandillajoan and Sunsetyellow for your support and inspiration. I feel so blessed to have found this group where people really understand what it is to struggle with the pain of obesity. It seems like thinner people's answer is "just stop eating so much", or "get off your tush and exercise" which is very frustrating when the truth is I probably eat half what they do and work 3 jobs!

Thank you for having a place of comfort and understanding I can turn to as I begin my journey toward health. The first step on the path was deciding to take it. Tomorrow I go to the information seminar where I can begin the long journey down it.

Thank you all for your stories and your honesty. You have have been an inspiration and strength as I make this choice. I hope that one day I will be able to return the favor!

you are right most people don't understand there are no easy answers with obesity.
You are begining an exciting and difficult journey to better your health.
I began reading this site months before surgery, and now months after. The people on here are amazing, and really seem to care.

I am so happy for you. Making the decision to change your life is the best thing you can do for yourself.
I get so frustrated when people don't understand obesity and this surgery but ya know what..screw them! This is my only life..I'm goign to live it.

Most people that make comments like that do not want to seek knowledge or understand what someone else is going through in their life. Just like that saying "walk in my shoes for a mile." Good luck on your surgery and welcome to a healthier lifestyle.

Well then, thank you for the thank you! And, if ya don't mind me saying this (I hope you don't 'cause I will anyway LOL)...to me, this is not a "favor". This is an obligation on my part to be of help to all those out there who are living with the pain of obesity who want support. Unlike many addictions which can be "hidden" or "swept under the rug" or kept a big "secret" (at least for a certain amount of time)I wore mine "on my sleeve", so to speak. Actually, I wore mine from head-to-toe, I don't about anybody else!! Anyway, it is so important to me to have found this grp. I only wish it was here for me when I was beginning my journey like you and so many others are. I can only share my experience. Others can share theirs. Each one of us is an individual and because of that we are different. But, we all have one common denominator - obesity (else we wouldn't be here, right?). And that's a very, very big commonality. I think. So, as a new member, I feel priviledged and honored to be here for you at the beginning of your journey as well as wherever it may lead. Sorry. I am very long-winded today. Well, o.k., most days!
