Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
The hardest part of eating with my family (which I've had talk to them about) is them leaving me alone at the table because they've shoveled in their food andthry're done and I have to take my time. So now they are slowing down so that they can sit through dinner with me. At week 5 I was able to add some food to my plan, I bought a great cookbook "Eating well after weight loss surgery". So now I make dinner that we ALL can eat, so I'm not making 2 dinners.
Drinking all day is necessary. You need to stay hydrated. It's a common problem with WLS people that we become dehydrated. So keep the fluids flowing! Contact your doctors office if you have trouble getting in all your protein, it's essential for healing, and they may have other ideas for you to get it all in.
Also I agree with polmomma, lots of walking, some of your swelling could be from the gas they fill your belly with and walking will help release that gas. I was also surprised that when I got home from surgery that I had gained 6 lbs. It took a few days for me to lose that weight and then for the scale to move beyon t hat, but once it does it really starts moving. Please don't compare your weight loss to anyone else. Someone with a larger BMI will lose twice as much as someone with a smaller. As long as your doctor says your on track go with that.
You're doing great and I hope you feel better soon!

I started losing weight after the first week, but people vary quite a bit on that onesome people take a little longer and some start losing weight within a couple days.
Almost no one gets all 70 grams of protein at the beginning. I dont think I got 70 grams until I was past 1 month.
These are wonderful questions!! Sounds like you are doing great!
