Awww Green, I'm sorry..

I slept on my side the 1st night, but had a pillow up against my stomach as a soft cushion. I am still sitting with a pillow up against my stomach when I sit in my recliner, but I think its more of a 'comfort' deal, than anything else now.

Hope you find a "spot" that feels good , and can get some decent sleep! It helps in your healing too, so a good night's sleep is really important I've been told by quite a few.

I'm sorry you're having trouble sleeping. I was able to sleep on my left side the very first night.

I slept in my recliner for like 2 weeks post op! Laying down was miserable for me.... but it got better in time!

I've been mostly sleeping in my recliner since leaving the hospital. I can lay in bed for just a short time before I start hurting. While I'm in bed, I can lay on one side, but not the other. I've never been comfortable laying on my back. So for now, I'm just sticking to my recliner.

How long was it before people started sleeping on their stomach?

I haven't had my surgery yet but I had a C-Section and I have never slept on my stomach again. It always feels a little weird. I could sleep on my side maybe a week or two afterwards.

Hey Green, I still have trouble sleeping on my side at 5 weeks postop. I am not a back sleeper at all. This is tough. I started being able to sleep on my right side at about 3 weeks. Left side is still a no-go. Moving while lying down is awful too. I think I pulled something badly at about 3 weeks and it still hurts a lot. When I move the wrong way the pain is a fast 10!!! Then is subsides. What I have found that works best for me is to lay on my back and then sort of move my hips to my side. So torso is flat but hips/legs are side. Kind of a contortion, but it is actually kind of comfortable. A dog sleeping right next to your hips for support works wonders too. lmao Hope you find a spot.

I was in the hospital for a week and was only able to sleep in my back. And when I got home it took about another week and a half for me to be able to sleep on my sides.

It took about a week before I could sleep on my side. I had to roll over very carefully and block my stomach with a pillow but it worked

Sleep? What's that? LOL! Prior to surgery I slept in a lounge chair because of pain everywhere. Now I do about half as much because of different, but not as severe pain. My bed makes me hurt in general so hoping to get a new foam mattress this spring. I think you might need to slowly break in your tummy muscles. Maybe spend a short time on your side and work up to it?
