Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. I never had to do the 1 oz cup either...it seems like it would get annoying to keep pouring and keeping track of how many you have drank throughout the day. Instead I filled two large bottles with fluids in the morning and alternated sipping from them all day long. I would keep one by me and the other in the fridge to stay cold. Every hour or two I would switch them out, when they were both empty I knew I had gotten in the minimum amount of fluids I needed. After that I would keep drinking but not be so focused on it....usually it was almost time for bed anyway!
I never had the full/pain feeling from drinking. I think I was so nauseas that I never noticed any pain..lol now! Good luck....hopefully things will calm down soon and you will be able to drink much easier!
Hang in there!

Are you drinking protein shakes as part of your total liquid?
At Walmart in the coffee section you can get a variety of DaVinci sugar free flavors and they are wonderful to add to drinks, even coffee. My favorite is Amaretto mixed in with lemon aid crystal light...makes me feel like I'm on a tropical island. Be creative and check out Shelly's website for hundreds of ideas and recipes.

Luckily I was off work and could try to learn this new lifestyle, not anything easy. After two weeks, I was able to drink 8 oz in 20 mins. Now, if I'm paying attention, I can drink a 24 oz bottle of water in an hour. I still can't do anything too hot or too cold. But if it is one or the other, I can feel it going down into my pouch. Keep at it, and I don't think there is an easier way. Good luck and have patience...
