I will be completing my 6th month with my PCM to qualify for surgery this coming Monday. I will then be able to schedule an appt with the surgeon. I have jumped through all the necessary hoops except for this last PCM visit. My son will be getting married in Sept and I am leery of scheduling the surgery too close to his wedding due to possible issues with the surgery. I am probably putting the cart before the horse but anticipating a May or June surgery. Of course, this will be dependent on surgical availability. I have read so much about some of you and your issues post surgery. Just curious what you might do, wait on surgery or go ahead prior to the wedding? Thanks in advance.

i would have the surgery asap youve worked so hard to get here why wait, i understand your concerns with some issues but im almost 4 months po and am doing great! good luck with whatever you decide :)

I would schedule the surgery!!!!! I had to post pone mine by almost 3 months because of another surgery that was more critical.... And I soooooooooooo wish I could have done this sooner....
I got my energy back at almost exactly 4 weeks.... I am 7 weeks out now and I can do soooooooooooo much more than I could before my surgery already.....
I know some people go back to work very quickly as well....
My advice: just give yourself at least a month before the wedding and you will be great!!!!

Here's my thinking: what if I delay surgery (in my case, until after a cruise) and my employer changes insurance companies and I've lost this opportunity?

Not willing to risk that - I've worked too hard to get where I am.

May or June should be fine for a September wedding. Your biggest problem will be having a dress that fits (since you will be changing sizes so quickly).

I too had to wait 6 months and jump through all the hoops during that time. On my 6 th month my employer announced that they were changing our insurance, effective the week before my scheduled surgery. I about had a stroke! Thankfully the new insurance also covered my surgery(and didn't require the 6month wait). The moral of the story, have the surgery as soon as your able. Things that you have no controll over can change quickly. Good luck.

I think we are sisters! My younger sister is getting married June 8 my surgery is scheduled for May 7. Wonder if my dress will still fit lol!

Thanks for the responses. I thought going ahead was the right decision, but the negative nellies in my life say...."You aren't going to have surgery before the wedding, are you?" I will still enjoy the day whether I can eat the whole meal or not. I am not a big drinker at all so not drinking doesn't bother me in the least. We shall see, I hope I can get the surgery scheduled quickly.

I think..have the surgery. You will feel better about yourself and would probably enjoy the wedding more. debby
