Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Groomergirl - I haven't stopped walking since my surgery last August and just kept going further and faster - once I signed up for a 5k race (which is only 3.1 miles), I knew I would want to at least try to run it. So I would try to better my time for 5k each day - didn't always do it and didn't chastise myself if I walked the entire distance. Sometimes I walk so fast that slipping into a little jog is the next natural step. And I jog until I can't (usually it's my breathing that stops me - was a smoker for 30+ years).
Seriously, if this old lady can do this (bad back, bad ankle and bad knees), anyone can!! Now I walk/jog three to five miles a day painfree and have signed up for races in May, June and July! It's addicting!!
Thanks again to everyone - so nice to come here and get so many words of encouragement!
