I had my 2 week post op check up today and everything seems like it is going fine and completely normal. I have lost 14 pounds since surgery on Aug. 29th and 25 pounds overall (including the 11 pounds I lost before surgery). He seemed pleased with my progress.

I'm not sure how much I should be eating, though. I mean....I had 1/2 cup of refried beans tonight and ate that in a 30 min time span. I keep the rule of thumb as no more than 8oz in an hour. Is that normal? It's so hard for me to judge because I'm never hungry so I don't know when I am really "full" and I really don't want to stretch my pouch!

sounds like you are doing great. I can't eat 1/2 C in 30 min. but everyone is different! are you listening to your pouch? I know you may not feel full, but you should be feeling that little reminder, "hey, it's getting crowded down here!"

like I said, everyone is different, that could be "normal" for you! all the best and happy your doc is pleased w/your progress, keep it up!

I am 3 weeks out and can eat a half cup of refried beans in 15 minutes. Not what I want to do, but I find slowing down to be very difficult. I figure as long as I never go above a half cup and I don't get any irritation, although I do get lots of gassy burps, oops, I am doing alright??

I don't like re-fried beans, so I have no idea how much of them I could eat, but my surgeon only allowed 20 minutes per meal. After 20 minutes, we were supposed to stop (not saying that is the best way to do it, but that's how she taught us to control portions).

When I asked my surgeon this question today, he just said that I could be full with a couple of tablespoons full or it might be a half a cup. I could eat it faster, too, but I don't because I'm so scared of stretching my pouch and/or getting sick. So I force myself to wait 2-3 minutes between bites.

Yesterday, I tried some scrambled eggs and took 30 mins to eat 1 egg. I still have this feeling like something is stuck right behind my sternum. No matter what I do, I can't get that feeling to go away. It doesn't hurt, it's just annoying. I am eating and drinking okay otherwise, so I'm not sure if something is actually stuck or if it's just a wierd feeling?
