Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
There is no medical evidence that drinking carbonated beverages stretches your pouch - but that doesn't mean it doesn't either - only that no formal research has been done.
i WOULD NOT experiment with full sugar soda. That's a recipe for disaster - dumping, sliding back into old habits, etc.
I am 12 weeks out and have had one semi-flat diet coke, and I have had some flattened seltzer a couple of times. My nut was not happy about the diet coke, but told me I could experiment with seltzer on occasion. I don't think I could do full on carbonation, but after it's been watered down with ice and the bubbles are a little weaker, I didn't have any problem. Diet coke was way too sweet for me and I don't feel the need to go there again. The experience allowed me to slay the beast, as they say. However, I don't see myself giving up bubbles forever. Seltzer and carbonated mineral waters will likely be a [smaller] part of of my life forever.
You should talk to your nut and/or therapist about why you feel you need that coke... Make sure it's coming from a place of understanding rather than just blind craving.
Good luck!

If you wanna get down (now) you better take a non-carbonated ride...
Party on.
that's it, just NO!!!!!!!!!
:) good luck!
2: Sugar? Are you nuts? Only if you're a glutton for punishment and like throwing up and having the green apple splatters for a few hours and feeling like you want to die.
My advice is put soda out of your head altogether and forget it ever existed. At 2 years out I still avoid it. I'll have a sip once in a while but don't touch it for the most part.

It the source of life and the planet.
Why would you not want to drink something so good for you and put all those sugars and chemicals in you?
I was also told told even club soda or carbonated drinks are a no-no.
Ask yourself, why did you have the surgery in the first palce?
