carbs and for me it works. I dilute with alot of ice and 50/50 water.
I was a Diet Pepsi addict and quit when I first started the wls journey, about 6 mo before surgery, and I can say that I do not miss it.

stay strong as you don't want the effects of the carbonation, i hear it isn't pleasant.
My surgery was February 20. 2012. I gave up all rice, potatoes, pasta, and bread in July 2011. I gave up soda on August 24, 2011. When I had my surgery I had absolutely NO cravings because I had gotten it out of my system long before I had my surgery.
I have not had any cravings for any of the "forbidden" things especially soda. The only thing that I have eaten very little of is a slice of Sara Lee 45 calorie low carb bread. I toast one slice once or twice a week and have some peanut butter on it.
I know that some doctors have approved for some to have soda but for me, I have given it up completely.
