There are things that you will have to live with for the rest of your life. Not everyone experiences the same issues and there is no way to tell what you will have to deal with, if anything following surgery.
I have the same concerns as Crystal though...had it been me, I would not have had surgery for 50lbs. You indicate you have more health issues however and that is why you are considering the surgery.
Please make sure you do your research and make the best choice for you. You will get tons of support from this fantastic group no matter what you decide.
Best of luck!
I don't regret one second my decision to have GBS. It was the best thing I have ever done for me.
Good Luck on whatever you choose.
Good luck

I have a friend who's gas is horrid, we make her go outside, lol! She's two years out now.
I am with Sheds on this, perhaps the band might be a better option especially as you have so little to loose.
Ok so the profesionals might direct you to the bypass to control your sugars and diabetes related conditions.
its why I had surgery so any weight loss for me is a bonus....
The band does not restrict your sugar intake if your determined to cheat , but here is the news... nethier does the bypass. I am NOT sugar intolerant, just goes pretty much straight through me nowadays....
Coming off 9 tablets and 2 injections a day has been simply amazing. I can live with the side effects i just warn people not to stand down wind of me..... the dogs have some real competition nowadays and can only come a close second.... then butt humour and trumping is my cup of tea humour...
please consider your options wisely, is it really necessary to have the bypass when a band might not have to be as perminent???? Just a thought.
Take care

Would I do it again? Jury is still out until the next A1c comes in - but I think so.

As for the gas, I still get gas like I did before, but it isn't uncontrollable or anything like that. Depends on what I eat, some things make me more gassy than others, but for the most part it isn't a problem.
Constipation, yes sometimes, but not all the time. Now that I'm eating more regular foods things are pretty regular, but you have to keep in mind that you're not eating a lot of solid food at first, so there really isn't much to poop out.
As for gas and constipation, I really think those issue stem from your diet. I'm sevarl months out and have never has a problem with either. My kids however do give me gas from time to time but nothing putrid.
