So I just discovered as of Tuesday...that I am Lilac Stupid. I never really thought about it before. My mom always grew a few lilac bushes but they didn't do well. I love the smell of course, but I never really thought that lilacs might come in more than one color.
I honestly think it is because there is a color called lilac. It's a light purple. So I thought that was the only colors there were. Tuesday as I was driving to the gym and admiring scenery, I saw some bushes that looked like lilac bushes but the flowers were other colors. They weren't butterfly bushes either, I don't think those bloom yet.
So I have a stupid question...are there other types of lilac bushes and do they smell the same? I'm really curious now.

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
I know nothing about them except that they tend to grow like a house afire on my property which has acidic soil.
One of my lilac bushes came from a former coworker who had his for 20 years and it never blossomed for him but when I planted the little bush, it bloomed every year after the first year and it grew so much that I have had to trim it back a few times because it was blocking a window.
So I would say, add a little sand to your soil and it will probably do better. That's my guess anyway.............ok so I just looked it up and found that the ph of the soil doesn't matter as long as it's not too much one way or the other so not too acidic and not too alkaline. It can take a few years for them to get established before they flower and they need alot of sunlight.
They tend to attract alot of butterflies and I talk to them also. They love to fly and dance around me and there is a part of me that senses we are connected in some way. Seeing alot of butterflies in your garden has significant meaning in your life and you can read more about that here:
