Gambling Addiction & Recovery Support Group
Compulsive gambling is an urge or addiction to gamble despite harmful negative consequences or a desire to stop. A preferred term among many professionals is problem gambling, as few people described by the term experience true compulsions in the clinical sense of the word. Problem gambling often is defined by whether harm is experienced by the gambler or others rather...
for most of us compulsive gamblers, money is a big trigger, and we need to get rid of it as soon as possible.
after a little over two months, I still don't keep a lot of cash on me. not for long anyway.
hopefully we will hear from you later, that you did what you were supposed to do with the money. okay?
Just one note, this is precisely why once you put yourself into recovery, you need stop all borrowing regardless of the situation. Bail outs, often times then not, does not help cgs. Addicted mind is stronger then any other urges I know. And it does not have the "last time". In that state of mind. This might sound too harsh but that is the truth.
I hope you will find a strength to get through this financial hardship soon so you can have some peace within yourself.
You are blessed with a gracious and kind aunt. Be strong and hang in there. No gambling please!
Love,
Victoria
P.S. I guess recovery is sort of like "People Blinders". It keeps us from looking to the side for the casino and keeps us moving forward from harms way.

the only way I quit my TOTALLY compulisve and addictive gambling was to finally not have the ability to go.
that meant I had to not have cash available to me to gamble.
It was the only way to give myself enough time away from gambling to be able to slow down and calm donw enough to fiugure this thing out.
That I didn't want to spend the rest of my life feeling anxious about living without being able to go to the c - -- - - and get my fix.
You know what it feels like to get that rush of emotions when you even think you will be able to go.
You can't breathe and as you get closer and closer your heart just pumps with anticipation of being there until you finally walk through the doors and ahhhhhhhhhhh.......you are home.
Who wants ot spend the rest of your life feeling like that about something that is inanimate and just takes and destroys versus gives you something back in the form of living and loving.
You must tell your family and friends that you no longer want to gamble and get someone else to handle your money until you are stronger and have enough "clean time" to feel what life used to be like before you became addicted.
then and only then will you be able to handle your finances and be confident enough in yourself to want to keep your committment to yourself to stay away from the c - -- - - s.
god bless
you and keep you strong
and give you kiind and accepting
people around you to give up this
awful way of living.
ps
you are terrified of getting the money because
you are beginning to know and understand
what money in the hands of a gambling addict means.
