I’m so happy that you have been clean for a year! You give me hope from this truly self destructive addiction. I’m 16 days out and going to G.A. meetings and individual counseling. One day at a time and a few days it’s been more like one hour at a time.

Today I have a low retirement income that would not remain stable if I were still gambling. Yesterday I booked a vacation for two nights, three days during Spring break. First vacation in over 3 years! This would not have been possible if I were still gambling, even when I was making plenty of money.
I am rebuilding ruined credit. Meditation, gratitude, journaling, hiking, photography, poetry and artwork make my life worth living. I used to act like I believed, while I was gambling, that gambling was everything, the end all and be all of life itself. Now I believe that it is LIFE that I need to experience and as much of it as I can, live it in full force, hike it, smell it, roll in it and devour it. There is so much more to life than the bells and whistles of the dopamine ride.
