Today I will not gamble
And that denial is same reason I am on day 14 gamble free after 4 years and 10 months. It is difficult to fully accept sometimes, but it will always be true for me.
I had to fight for my life to get free of this dreaded disease, and now, I've made it a life worth fighting for these last 4+ years.
Hang in there, Musbdeby, we just need to figure out what the next right thing to do is at this moment. I am pulling for you.
It is the definition of insanity to repeat the same behavior over and over expecting a different outcome. Our only real hope, (not a sick one), is in stopping and then digging at the unresolved issues that are the roots of our addictions. You might want to call the national problem gambling help line: 1-800-522-4700, they can tell you what resources are available in your area. Without the excellent counseling provided in my area I would still be living a miserable existence or have committed suicide or gone to prison because of my gambling.
It is medicine to read, post, journal or talk about our addictions. It seems the more open I am about what I struggle with, the less power it has over me.
