I tried GA before, but for some reason, I felt like I didn't belong, like I was trying to be dependent on and forge relationships with strangers. They were very welcoming and nice, but it seemed so forced. I do see an addiction counselor weekly, but it hasn't stopped me from wanting to gamble all the damn time. And it's crazy because I LOVE playing the slots, and when I sit in front of one, it's like I forget what it's done to my life, then I lose and remember it all again when I walk out of the casino pissed at myself, the slots, and the whole world. So I'm going to try this, maybe the anonymity and space to vent will help. Maybe it won't feel forced. Day 1.....
Not every day has been easy, but I'm loving the journey. When I was actively gambling my life was a mess. I was unhappy all of the time. Actually I was crazy all of the time, too. I hated myself. This addiction is wicked.
So, I come here daily to read and write, and it's been an important part of my recovery.
