Happened to pass by the Hollywood casino in Miami on Friday, thankgod i was not the person driving, i was so tempted to go there. Thankgod someone was giving me a ride, i steered out the window look at the casino until the building was out of site. I have to program my thoughts so i can pass casinos without thinking of gambling.

A trigger is just that, A TRIGGER! We all have them. If you can avoid passing the Casino that's cool. Impossible in Vegas therefore, I learned coping skills to combat my urges. For me, when I'm triggered, repeating, "You can't solve a problem (gambling) with the same behavior that created it!" If you need to talk to someone call The National Association of Problem Gambling at 1-800-522-4700. If they are not available you can reach GOD via prayer because he never slumbers or sleeps. WELCOME. Come back as often as you want or need to. I pray that I've said something to help. I'm praying for you. GOD Bless

So right...a Trigger is a Trigger...doesn't have to be even in the sight of a casino. One of my triggers is whenever my husband will go out to play with his band on a weekend night. I (thankfully) don't drink alcohol so it has never been a lure for me to go along and sit, drink and listen to them play. My "enjoyment" would come from going to the casino whenever he played. Last night I had to fight that trigger. Came to this site a few times, constantly reminded myself how pleased I would be in the morning having not thrown away hundreds if not a thousand dollars...yep, cause I wouldn't have gotten out of there until I hit the atm for the maximum amount after already bringing with me more than I could afford to lose. So, I beat that trigger last night and so happy today that I did!

Great job resisting temptation, STOP and Howie.. I understand that only too well... because I got involved in this when my husband was traveling about 1/2 of the time, I gave myself permission to go to the casino . . .basically feeling "ok" with it since I was left all alone. Well now, he is not traveling, but if he says he's going to an airplane event or something else, all of a sudden my brain goes right there in my head - to the casino I go.. Then I say - NO - STOP - this is not the right and smart thing to do... so I let it be just that . . a trigger... but I don't have to answer it.
