Compulsive gambling is an urge or addiction to gamble despite harmful negative consequences or a desire to stop. A preferred term among many professionals is problem gambling, as few people described by the term experience true compulsions in the clinical sense of the word. Problem gambling often is defined by whether harm is experienced by the gambler or others rather...

Payed back loved ones. I haven't been to inside the bank, since the day after I quit gambling. Have my CCs up to date. Don't have to worry about covering outstanding checks. Have new friends, -from GA. Don't hate myself every day. Things are really looking up.
I love that you are starting one day at a time. Roxxxy, you know, and I know, You CAN do this. Love, ~atticus
I can so relate to this - - I have had recent times of relapse also... my problem I think is "thinking" of it as fun and exciting - -the bonus rounds, etc., but of course I too have the BIGGER problem of not being able to LEAVE - without putting what I won and more back in!
If that wasn't a problem for most of us, we wouldn't be here, I guess. :] Anyway, your post and Atticus's reply has renewed my commitment. I was soooo down yesterday about all of this, I had to shed some tears - a LOT of them to even get where I am today. At one time I stayed away close to 140 days!!!!! I recorded them in my journal and I'm so pained right now that I can't even look back at them.... I don't go into the journal. But - - - I do remember the feelings I had during that time, and how things changed.... not having to hide, had way more "fun", and not ashamed of anything - nothing to hide - totally different kind of life day -to-day and MUCH MUCH better, happier, and more productive!!
So - here we go - - -with the help of our friends here, we can do it!! HELL NO - and you know the rest - I WON'T GO!
Thanks and usually I'm quiet on the board, but reaching out and spilling your guts a little feels good. :] :]

I would do anything to get money to gamble with, I had a brother that committed suicide and after the crap they went through i gave my parents a few years of non stop torture.
I mean pure torture, I saw my 60 year old parents cry like babies because of what i put them through
3 months ago i got myself sorted, stopped gambling, Currently paying off debts pretty quickly.
I wouldn't leave the house coz i was afraid of bumping into people i owed money too, and there were alot of them!!!
But stopping feels so so good, I can't gamble again nor do I want to, It's the most pointless thing in the world,
I really hope you can find the strength to stay away and keep any money you get to pay debts and bills in the near future.
It will make your life so much easier :)
I know just where you are at. I have done it so many times. Chasing and chasing. Sometimes I even sat in front of the machine and just mentally said F it! I know you are going to take it so just take it!
That kind of frustration really had an effect on me. It wasn't fun anymore. Now it is just the constant struggle not to go. It is so difficult because there are 5 places within a 10 minute drive.
I can only keep trying and hope for the best. Keep my bills and house needs uppermost in mind and try not to screw up.
I really understand.....
