Yes there often are withdrawls. Plese remember that though you quity gambling - the disease grows as if you are gambling. Therefore when you gamble again, lets say in three years, you would take off as if you had never stopped. This is truly a DEADLY disease. I have not found a person who recovered on their own. Thus I would highly suggest that you get involved in G A. Not gambling, which is great, and RECOVERY are not the same. I pray you will seek the help and friendship of G A which will offer you the choice of Recovery - it is up to you. PAX!

Thanks I appreciate your answers. Had I known what a mess I would be getting myself into with this, I don't think I would have bought the first ticket, but it's a little late for that at this point. I spend a great deal of time alone and have for quite a while. I have severe vertigo and some other health issues that prevent me from getting or keeping a job, i have had this for years. We don't have any insurance so I haven't been to a Doctor for quite a while. One of my reasons or excuses for buying the tickets is to have enough money to go to the doctor, but that is when I win enough. My Husband works all the time whether I gamble or not,
He would still work the same. We don't have the money to really
be wasting but he is sort of funny about money, it's his money I'm wasting so to speak and I only have his money to spend. That does cause alot of problems, I wish I could have money if my own
I would feel much better when I win because it is mine, I guess. I get bored sometimes and when I can drive without being really dizzy I can drive to the stores that are close to where we live, of course sometimes it's really bad and I can't, but I do every chance I get and I have the money, I am gonna attempt this, but I know it is gonna be hard. I am gonna try this on my own if I can, but I may not be able to all I can to is try, I do not have any support at all, my Husband try as he might makes matters worse, he does not have a clue how this feels nor does he care. He thinks it's just a choice I make, end of story. I have prayer and faith. So we'll see. Thanks again !!!

That feeling. I know that feeling. Telling myself over and over again, I will not gamble, I will not gamble...over and over, knowing deep down inside, yes I will, yes I will. And I did, in an instant I would be gambling. I hated that feeling. To me if was proof I couldn't even trust myself, all I was doing was lying to myself. I hated that little voice that knew I was lying to myself and everyone around me. Today I'm learning to trust myself, gratefully learning to even like myself. I can't say I have urges to gamble anymore. But once in a while something will remind me of that feeling when I lied to myself, when I was so unhappy and feeling no way out. That feeling of zero self control. Today I know that feeling is a lie, it's a feeling of not liking myself. Gradually I'm learning to let go of that feeling, understanding I can be kinder to myself. Gambling brought me to my knees, not gambling is allowing me to walk tall. Gambling isn't necessary in anyones life, except an individual addicted to gambling. So to me, there is almost a logical way to live a better life, I choose not to gamble. It humbles me to realize it's always been in my power to change. I'm done making excuses, it was me allowing myself to feed my addiction, lying to myself. I'm learning to work on me, my life, my feelings, who I am. And not to worry about what others are doing to me, doing around me, doing to themselves. It's not that I don't care about others, just the opposite. I care more about the people in my life now, more than ever. I can understand how people who are not addicts can come up with that ever so logical advice of "just quit", in many cases a plea. It's okay if they can't understand my addiction, and their advice is the first step in recovery, just stop gambling. In recovery we do this one day at a time.
