I've learned that peace only comes when you have sufficient time without gambling under your belt. Learn to let go of your compulsive addictive personality and behavior.
Let go of the burden of a secret life, free yourself from being an obsessive nature, and forgive yourself for being guilty of your shortcomings.
Find a good in what you are. Not what you aren't. Change your thoughts to you will, not you can and why you will because you are good of everything else except your addictive behavior. Don't let your addiction not matter to everything else that good in you. Because you are that good, and worthwhile to have all that life offers.
I know you are in despair at the moment, you keep going back to what you know you shouldn't. You keep thinking the one big win will give you a chance to bounce back. This will not happen because even if you do you will be right back to where you were because you are an addict. Your contentment does not rely on your financial abilities. It comes from how well you spend with what you have.
Recovering addicts are courageous people, it's not a shame to be in recovery, rather it is an act of self-love. The desire to be a better person today than yesterday. And today, it matters and you matter, with all your faults and shortcomings.
I have been gambled several decades, I've been on recovery for a couple of decades, I have failed on this journey for many many times.
I am now very content with where I am, emotionally, physically and psychologically. It's all because I've learned to look out for what triggers me and learned to divert that trigger. I feel very normal in that how I can go on with my business with whatever life throws at me without having to rely on gambling to escape. And the fact that gambling does not cross my mind nor interests me.
I come to this site from time to time to see what people are up to. Some old-timers still here and the new ones pop up here and there. Keep working on your journey, you will do this!
So, if you are in despair at the moment, let it all go and find your peace. Whatever it is will pass, that’s how the life is made of.

I wish non of us were here in this forum but you need to do whatever to help yourself. Lots of good advice and support here without a judgement. We all been there and know that you are not alone!
