So believe me when I say I know the pain associated with this disease of the mind. I've spent days feeling like a robot, just going through the motions of being alive, waiting for an opportunity to slip away and gamble, trying to wish my disease away, wishing I could gamble like a normal person, feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't.
Today I look at the whole mess and know the reasons I'm a compulsive gambler just don't matter anymore. What does matter is that my desire not to gamble doesn't have to ruin my life. I know I'll never be that bored person again, standing off to the side waiting for a normal gambler to play a few coins or a couple hands of cards. Why? Because I'm exactly like any other addict, I must refrain from placing that next bet. That's it. That's what I must do in order to lead a better life. And it can only be done one day at a time, sometimes one moment at a time.
It's not easy, not at all. But the truth is it does get easier with time. Please allow yourself the time to feel better, I know it can be achieved. Peace & Love
