I wanted to gamble yesterday. I was looking for an escape for the evening. I thought about depositing $1500 into an online account. Whether I would have successfully bypassed the barriers I have in place I do not know, because it never got that far. I just thought about my debt. How hard it has been paying it down these past 4 months. I thought about the stories of folks who repaid debts only to return to gambling and repeat the cycle. Instead, I made online payments of $1500 on my credit cards. I woke up this morning annoyed that the $1500 was gone from my checking account. I didn't budget for it being spent. But, at least it went to pay my bills rather than an online book. So I lost $1500 from my checking account yesterday, and I had a little slip up by experiencing the urge, but at least I avoided wagering.
Good job! I know how it feels to finally build up my bank account, only to have to see the numbers fall when I pay my bills. However, it is a far greater feeling to know that you didn’t really “lose” that money; it went towards reducing the numbers you hate seeing in your bill statements. You’ll see your bank account grow, again! Stay the course!
