2 months shows you have the ability you just need to tighten the plan. As Itsjustmeagain says, add more roadblocks to money, enlist some help, make plans for your free time for something to do that is not gambling. You can do this.

Thanks guys for the support im almost pretty sure that i wont go to the casino this weekend but its the following weeks im worried about i hope i can sustain else im gonna loose all my savings again...

thats why its ODAAT...one day at a time,......you cant worry about the following weeks, look in the mirror every morning and say...for today i will not gamble, hold yourself accountable, get your brain rewired to a normal way of life....fight and fight hard for your life

It's important to have a plan established ahead of time that will address the gambling urges sure to come. Knowing what you are going to do to deal with the urges now will increase your chance of success. It helped me to have a written plan I could pull out and read when I found myself feeling weak and vulnerable. It will take some experimenting to find activities and hobbies you enjoy to replace gambling. You need to try something new that will keep you excited and break up the monotony of recovery.
Making it more difficult to access money is also a last resort measure that worked for me. I had no credit cards, no debit card and a bank who's closest branch was 30 miles from this casino. This reduced my losses significantly in the end and gave me time to cool down, think and rationalize as I was running out of the casino to go get more money.

Those first few weeks without gambling, I felt sort of numb. I didn't have any huge urges to go back out there, but I did feel numb and a bit lost. I was hanging on to reality, facing it a peek at a time. I wondered what I would do if I found myself feeling like I wanted to relapse, andthat's when I told myself I would give myself time to let those nasty thoughts leave my mind. One day at a time. As time went by I began to stop worrying about any "extra money", it became just money to spend on things I wanted! Extra money is for extra special treats, like a new pair of shoes for a concert, or a lovely, little surprise for my grandkids. Give yourself time.

Guys, it is when I feel great at work that I tend to forget this addiction and make me want to celebrate. Forget that I lost money the other weekend and could end up gambling again, what do you usually do for replacement activities? movies? books? dating? shopping? golf? I am a loner.

I like reading. Painting. Needle crafts. Cooking. Swimming. Camping. Walking. Hiking. Movies. Gardening. Collecting rocks. Concerts. Going to the park. Writing. Daily Strength.

And sometimes just doing nothing!

This is a great forum for loners you can get support and still remain basically anonymous. One thing that I do is read. I happen to love science fiction because it removes me from day to day reality, most good books are action packed and fast paced and my mind can wander and imagine. I purchased a subscription to Amazon unlimited for about ten dollars a month and with it I have basically unlimited books to read. I don't like tv because it usually is based on themes that are just mind numb...I kind of like golf but it is a really frustrating game especially if you take it serious, might trigger a gambling urge....Not a professional counselor so take what I say with a grain of salt....

I find golf a great way to relax and would never consider gambling on it for it would ruin the experience of the fresh air and the good company. Do whatever makes you calm and let's your mind get away from the everyday grind. God Bless

Me too. I got paid tues and took it to rwny and lost everything. I would win and win but at the end it took all my money. Sometimes i think i got the devil on my shoulder. I did quit for 2 months. I also put my name on the self exclusion list for 1 year. But i still went back a few times. Got caught had to leave. I dont know what to do

I've been away from it for over 4 weeks now. I do not miss it. It seems the urge is gone (for now anyway). I hope it does not return!

It is possible, absolutely. Just stay away and keep your money where it should be and that is in the bank! I opened an onlive savings acct. & I must THINK before I ACT to draw money from it to send to my checking acct.

Maybe not the best idea, but an idea nonetheless.

One month away = money in my pocket to pay the bills! No more feeling like a piece of garbage after being out too late and losing wayyyyy too much!
