Hi sosick....I feel your pain!! It shows we have to stay alert and keep vigilant in regards to addiction. The short cut of gambling to gain wealth (what our mindset tells us) is definitely the road to hell. Maybe once you have some savings set up again in the future, it'd be best to put it towards bills right away or on some CD that can't be cashed in for gambling purposes.

I sure hope you can get back on track. This addiction is sneaky but you can conquer it again. 8 months of not gambling is still a triumph. Take care!

I finally broke down and admitted myself into a treatment center. I spent 30 days working on overcoming this addiction. Came home with a new outlook on my life. Did not gamble for 3 years, attended GA meetings faithfully and straighten out the mess I had made. In a weak moment, on Thanksgiving Day, I got in my car and drove straight to a game room. My life has been a down hill slide since November. I want to stop, know I should, but...

geees thats gotta hurt. but yeah i can see that same instance happening in myself should i ever pull off 8 months. once i start gambling im in it till there aint a cent left of hope. hell ya got some good time in behind ya with that 8 months and ya never loose that. ya get better as ya go and you know it. dont let that slip trip ya up and get back down to buisness. wishing ya the best in that journey

You did it once and you can do it again. Eight months is amazing and something to be proud of...we are not defeated by a relapse...not unless we decide that we are.

I know that some days we are stronger than others. Whatever set you up for that trip back to the casino was only temporary.

Their have been times in my life when I was sickened by the thought that I "did it again". Never Ever Give Up No matter What!!

Hang in there Sosick, you've got a good head start on what lies ahead. Keep your eyes open so you can anticipate the pot holes and maneuver around them.

You guys are awesome...I do realize months is nothing to scoff at...truly appreciate all the encouraging words...I truly hope you guys can move on as well! Day 1 GF..sounds weak but a start nonetheless...

today is day 2 for me! So hard to break this illness. I have caused such problems with my gambling.

If I make it the day it will be day 2 for me too.
Please God help me.
I have already been tempted by someone asking me to go over after work.

Gotta get away from those people Linda. Anyone that is currently gambling right now will drag you in with them. Doesn't matter whether they are a social gambler who is in control or one of your partners in crime (I had plenty of those). You are only a day in and way too weak to resist right now. Need to get to a safe place for a couple weeks to get your thoughts straight. Just some advice. If you want it, you will stay away. If you are ready yet, you will be getting another cheap thrill. It always ends the same. Keep reminding yourself of that. Good luck. I'm hear if you need to talk.

guess just worry about today being gamble free. ya have no control over tommrrow and only the present matters for now.

Isn't this disease crazy....hang in there. Most of us relapse, but you will get back on your feet again. I think the only suggestion I could make is once you start saving money again, find someone who you trust and KNOWS about your problem to hold the extra cash. So, if this does happen again, it may not be as devastating. I actually think I will take my own advice on that one today....lol. We all screw up.....I think the thing I need to do is be honest with everyone about it. I might be a great humbling experience. I do wish you the best...keep it touch.

yeah thats great if ya can find someone to handle the finaces. me im kinda on my own and gotta find ways of not tripping up myself. usually do good till pay day hits and then i become that sorrry looser again. lol getting better at it though and have been tossing more of the extra money that would of been gambled towards my car payment. kinda setting a few goals where i need to save a few bucks for other things and hoping i can hold to it and not gamble it away before its needed. guess all we can do is try and hope for the best.

Well, I blew it....I was almost too embarrassed to sign in today and face you all.
I typed in from work at 4:30 and at 5:30 I was in front of the machines with money I really didn't have and yes I won some then lost more.
If only I had stayed on line till 6:30 I would have seen your post BBird. I didn't sleep last night after I got home. Feel hung over and didn't have any alcohol at all. I am just so sick of myslef and so self loathing. I could be so much better why aren't I?

Sorry to hear that Linda...but would BBirds posting really have stopped you from going? Unlikely..be honest with yourself..pick yourself up and say to yourself.."Just for today I will not gamble." One day at a time (as cliche as it sounds)

Hey mate, you might be back to square one financially, but you should know that you achieved something even bigger - going 8 months GF.

That is a HUGE feat believe it or not. And if you've done it once, you can do it again :)
