My husbands pay day was yesterday. I thought my Friday was going ot be good. He left going to work and at about noon he me that he needed to gt a car title loan. I didn't have my phone near me, so I didn't get it.
He called our home phone to say he wanted his car title, he needed $1500. Well, we are a couple that our finances are not together. His car is paid for. At this point I am tired and sad that he would get a title loan on a car that is paid for make me extremely sad. I guess he thought I wouldn't give it to him, so he adds that he owe "dude", $1500. Now, here is my issue, "Dude" has never appeared. This "dude" has been mentioned so many times, and it started with I don't have any money from my check because I had to pay "dude", but I haven't been to the casino. Yet he smells like he has been dipped in an ash tray.
Yesterday I met him at the title place to give him the title, the direction he was coming from shows that he lied about where he was at. My thinking and gut feeling tells me that he went to work, got his check, when to the casino, lost it all, called for his title to get more money to gamble. When he came home last night at about midnight, he smelled like pure ash tray. He walked in saying that I gave "dude" the money. He was only able to get $750. I said where did you have to meet this "dude". What does he say, "at the casino". I said, so you sat at the casino waiting for "dude" for hours until he came. He said yes. I said with $750 in your pocket. He said yes. Now, fellow posters, you and I know this is a LIE!!!!!!!!!
A CG is not going ot meet "dude" at the casino with $750 in their pocket waiting for some they owe money to. If he truly owed money to someone then he would get them the money and not have to meet at the casino and wait for hours for this person to come. When I asked him who is this dude, he said "Why is that important"?
So, then he goes on to say that "Dude told me that he wants the other $750 this morning" WTF!!!!! Now people, I know I am not crazy. If this doesn't sound like a crock of sh*t, I don't know what does.
Please let me hear from you all. At this time I just need to hear from someone out there.

He has told the story that something is going on with the state and they are cutting pay of social workers in probations. So he may won't get a check for the next month. Yes there have been some doosies.
It does make me very sad because this is my best friend. If this wasn't in our marriage, then it would be a good marriage. This is the man that help to finance two master degrees. My heart is truly breaking to see him like this. It is sad.
Please try to stand by your husband without letting him take advantage of you financially. I can't talk to my husband about my problem; he sees it as simple as just stopping and believes I can do so anytime if I want to...he doesn't see it as an addiction and has no sympathy or emotional support to give me. It is really lonely dealing with this addiction and not having someone to lean on emotionally. It is my own fault because I took advantage of him early on in my problem; using our combined finances to gamble with...now our stuff is separate. Anyway...don't give up on your husband. If he is like me, he is miserable and is struggling to find his way out...Take care.
I'm finally seeing my husband has no power over this addiction. He is seeing it too (thankfully) so we worked out a way he has no access to money. He can't be trusted with it. As much as I hate the responsibility of having the job of financial overseer I finally realize its the only way things will work. We are lucky in some sense that our credit is so bad he can't get anytype of loan. We've just started this so we will see how it works and if he finds a way to get money or if he really works on his recovery.
I realy hope and this is bad to say, but I am hoping that his credit get much worse then what it is so that no one will give him a loan. He doesn't think I know he is getting loans, but he is. By being here, I have learned so much. And it is great talking to everyone and getting the support.
