I am 45 years old from CT. I have 4 children and 2 step daughters. I have had a gambling addiction for 14 years. I also havent placed a bet in 2 weeks and 6 days. I cross out on the calendar when i completed another day of not gambling. All of a sudden the days go bye. keep going we are worth it!!

I'm a compulsive slot machine gambler from Minnesota who gambled at least weekly for 15 plus years. I self banned three years ago and did tons of research on my addiction. It's not causing problems in my life right now, but I still need to come here regularly to stay mindful about how dangerous this addiction can be, and contribute if there is ever something useful to say.

I'm 50 years old, and have lived in Kansas for the past 18 years. I have 2 daughters ages 22 and 19, and a son who's 15. Been married 25 years to an aerospace engineer who took me from NJ (where we both grew up) to Denver, Seattle, Indiana and Kentucky before we ended up here for what was supposed to be a 2 year gig!

I am a partner in a mortgage business, am a life coach part time, and also work part time in marketing.

I love reading, playing games, watching movies, working out, cooking, photography, writing, and watching my son play baseball!
My favorite thing to do is hang out in the kitchen with my family and cook and talk about everything and nothing.

I started buying scratch tickets a few years back, and started gambling 2 years ago in the casinos in Oklahoma, going every month or so. Then it accelerated to every other week, about 9 months ago I started going every week and losing our bill money.

I have not gambled in 6 weeks, and will never step foot in a casino ever again.:)

hi i am brian, i have went back to gambling many times--i had anywhere from 1 day to 5 plus years clean--since coming into the ga program in 1995- well i celebrate a year on tuesday and life again is getting a lot better-more opportunities and healing--i now have diabetes just diagnosed and have been eating well for a coupe of weeks which is making life so much more smoother-but i still smoke--i have a dog named serenity--and for today i am coming to believe there is life after gambling..thanks!

Hi, My name is Estel, I live in Northern California. I quit drinking over 8 years ago, shortly after that I discovered gambling. I now know it is known as "switching addictions". I work at a public Library. I love reading [of course], movies, sports, theater and being with family. I always joked that I could resist anything except temptation, but It isn't much of a joke anymore! I do okay for a few days, and then these powerful,. powerful urges take hold. I do have a partner that I have been with for over 7 years. It is tough because she also likes to gamble. I do come to the boards any time I have access to a computer [my home computer was stolen]. So, often on weekends I can't get to the list. I want to say thanks to all of the people that post. So often people say things that really resonate. Thank you for your courage, and just being kind to one another. We really need that.

Hi, I am Sarah. I am married to a compulsive gambler. I appreciate reading your posts - it really helps me understand what he is going through from a different perspective. We have two little girls and a wonderful life. He goes to GA meetings and is now 90 days gambling-free.
