It's Friday, payday and a 3 day weekend. Going to be thankful for getting paid $ deposited into bank account and some into retirement plan. I know that $ is safe and will grow. No more foolisly risking it by gambling. That's a bad investment risking it at bad odds when the house will win in the end. I decided not to do football Sunday with some friends I had planned because it's a day of drinking and gambling on the games. I will be productive that day and only watch the team that I follow without betting on the game. I will be able to go to sleep that night without being disappointed in myself for gambling and wake up without a hangover and be productive the next day. Hope everyone has a great gamble free weekend.

Left out trying to keep telling myself life is about earning the $ you make. Work hard and do your job right. Not throw it around carelessly on what the outcome of a sporting event might be that I have no control over. But I can control saving it and spending it wisely on things I need. Have to keep thinking this bc with weekend here and being off I know the thoughts of gambling will cross my mind. Just gamble 1 day and enjoy with your friends. Win or lose that's it. But I know that's not true. If lose will want to chase if win will want to keep gambling. It will never be enough. So not even doing it is the way for me. Just need to stay away.

Maybe make new friends with people who don't bet on the games? Replacing my need for social interaction while playing craps with social interaction in a book club and hosting dinner parties has helped a lot. I had to get in touch with some friends and acquaintances I hadn't talked to for a while, but some of the friendships have really stuck.

Nancy, agree you need to pull yourself away from people and situations which may trigger the urge to gamble.

My bookie messages me and I would bet again but blocked his contact info and it's been working for now
