Denny2011 - Part of recovery is letting go of the people that keep us in our addiction. Often we need to change people, places and things. Please keep coming back and find a GA meeting to attend.
worthless, no way,
you are an addict who is trying to change your life,
like so many of us here.
You simply must get someone to help you control the money
and to abstain, that is where it starts.. this can be with GA,
a friend or family.
We addicts can't control ourselves and until we learn how
we need the help of others, as here and mentioned above.
Charmed,
you are charming my dear,
so brave and strong and courageous,
you have come back so strong and
I can feel the change in your thinking and believing
that you can and will come out of this addiction
and learn to make better choices for yourself as well.
I am so happy for you as the therapist and counselors
can really help us to make the true committment that
is needed to quit as you are doing now.
This is a really hard thing to do .........to abstain from
something we so like doing,
but no one, simply no one can AFFORD to keep going and
spending the money it takes to fund this disease.
No matter how much money we throw at it we will always
in the end lose. It is a business set up on the odds of it always
in the end winning and you are realizing that now.
It took me forever to understand.
God Bless you and keep you strong and recovering.
Dear chargergirl,
Taking the financial inventory is a good thing,
it sometimes depresses us and leads us back to
the addiction to avoid the feelings and the cylce continues,
well no today and no longer for you,
you are way too smart and have begun to realize this
is the lure and the reality of gambling,
it is not anything that will ever be "won" it is a losing
battle and battle it is, for our health and sanity and well-being.
Hi jay and new,
so glad we are all here still trying to keep our
path straight ahead and posting to help us ALL
realize recovery.
I so appreciate all you both give here each day.
Gam"bull" free living is the only alternative,
no one can maintain a healthy and vibrant lifestyle
with gambling in it.
It is a dark and deceitful existence.
