I'm so glad you are here Mars. This disease sucks but it sucks less to know that we are not alone. I too will not gamble today. Anything more than that is too overwhelming for me right now. I just had a huge urge but I went for a walk and the urge is gone. I will look forward to reading your posts.

Read past post, Youtube what is happening to your brain when you gamble. Don't keep any money with you and be accountable to someone who wants you to succeed.
I have been a few months out of the trap.

There are some smart people that will help you.

The first few months are the hardest. Hang in there. Be tough. At times you may need to be selfish and put yourself first to get well, but you need to take your recovery seriously. I recommend self-ban, finding a payee, and exploring what to do with your free time (exercise, getting massages, journaling, dancing, meditation, writing, reading, etc.) No one ever told a heroin addict she was selfish for taking time to recover at a methadone clinic! Take your recovery seriously!

Thanks everyone for the positive words. I am having a "day" today, its Sunday and that triggers my gambling urge. BUT, I am going to do a couple of chores and get out of town. To the outdoors. No bells and whistles, just birds and breezes...May we all have a gamble free day...

Wonderful! It helps me a lot too, reading the posts. I feel sympathetic because I've been through so much of the same thing. Back in May, I was telling myself, yes, I love doing this--don't like the afterwords at all, feeling so stupid--but I want to not do it more than I want to do it! I do not go to the places I used to gamble, at all..I don't know if I ever will, but am only going to worry about this day. :)
