I understand about the "weekends". I also go to movies and accept any invitation that comes my way. I also attend a Unity Church which emphasizes the 12 Step program.
however, I'm still happier getting gamble free than I was when I was actively gambling all the time. It may have filled up some hours, but Lord, the miserable feelings after gambling are not worth it. lol.
and thanks charm for sharing a bit about your session. we can all benefit from not looking back.
enjoy your Friday evening, everyone!
so glad the therapy is going well.
I agree,
the hole we used to dig was big and getting bigger all the time,
no way to ever fill it back up again,
and the effort trying can take us to places we don't want to be.
I too feel up and down and sad at times and I realize that these are the times I must be extra vigilent as to my mindset as far as gambling goes.
That is when I want to just forget and lay back and go gamble.
Well,
no more as now I see this is avoiding and losing and making the worst choice possible.
we must learn to fill these times with other better choices and learn to alter our moods and regulate them and our reactions so as not to turn to bad behavior such as gambling.
As addicts we tend to make the bad choices and once we have programmed our addcitive brains to make them we simply fall back on them at the first sign of discomfort in life.
Well start to choose and then keep on chosing to have life and get rid of the bad behavior or you will keep going down that dark hole and
never crawl out.
Gambling is taking the easy way out and making the worst of choices.
Gambling is relying on old and bad behavior to make us feel better when we should know by now that it will never give us what we need or want or expect; only pain and sorrow.
I am so happy that you are learning to make the better choices for yourself and once you start to feel what THAT feels like you will want that in your life instead of the devestation that comes with gambling.
As time goes on we all heal from this so please just keep on doing what you are doing to heal yourself and the losses WILL fade into the background as your life takes on a bigger role each and every day.
I am so proud and happy for you to be on the right path once again.
God Bless you each day.
