I was on Day 3 and thought I could stop in the local slot place to say hello to some slot buddies and tell them I was quitting slots.

Well, so much for that. They weren't there but my favorite slot machine was available.It was like I had no control. Next thing I knew I was sitting at the machine and could not leave until I was broke. Fortunately, I only had $85 on me.One time I would have put a taken sign on the machine and gone home and got my bank card but last night I left.

So, it's Day 1 again and I now know I can not go to a place where there are slot machines, at least, not in the foreseeable future.

don't stop trying to quit until you quit! it is possible to quit gambling!

Is a good sign that you modified your behavior by not going home to get your bank card and going back to the casino as you would have in the past. Definitely a step in the right direction. The most certain way to stay in recovery is not to tempt yourself. At 121 days GF, I wouldn't go near a casino because I know it would set me back. Stay strong and work the program and you'll be successful. We're all pulling for you!!!!

A casino is not a place to be in- way too much temptation that you don't need.

You came right back! That is the most important thing. You are here talking to all of us about it. I can tell you really want this recovery and I totally get what happened beccause I did the same thing for a long time. I don't know what happens to us compulsive gamblers but the minute we set foo in the door of a casino it's like our boddies are taken over and we lose control of our mind and body. The urge to gamble is so strong we cannot stop ourselves. It's just like the addict who can't tuen down drugs. We have to fight so very hard. Please read page 17 from the GA combo book. It's posted here today, and take it to heart. Most of us never found our way to recovery until we did what they say in GA. You can't test or temp yourself. It just does not work. Cherbear brings up a good point. I have also felt like something is controlling me in the casino it is unexplainable but you become almost like a zombie pushing that stupid button over and over and the money isn't real. Makes me wonder if there isn't something subliminal in the games or the music in the casino that has some sort of hypnotizing effect?
