Oh, I totally know what you mean about feeling bored. I consider it a symptom of quitting gambling. Not that it's a bad thing, just that it's part of the withdrawl symptoms from quitting. I was able to think of things to do but it didn't seem to be as "exciting" as gambling. The good news is that the boreness passes...it's gradual but it does pass, at least for me. I'm just rediscovering my hobbies again and there is a feeling that I've been released from jail as I find myself shopping, going to movies and visiting old haunts that I left in the ditch when I started gambling regularly or should I say gambling too much. Just go through the motions if you have to. I liked to clean with some good music and finally tackled some clutter and dust mites - sorta of a spring cleaning mode. Take care.

we hope you continue your fight against going gambling: and it is indeed a fight....someone said imagine the end: how you will feel leaving the casino: broke, disgusted, mad, depressed, etc. we usually go in feeling like this will be the time: excited, full of anticipation, and leave the total opposite. someone on here said: a gambler plays to win: a compulsive gambler gambles to gamble! no amount is enough for us to leave. we keep pushing the button until it's all gone. that is the difference between a regular gambler, and a compulsive gambler. that helped me a lot when I read that, cause it is so true. so,,,,,,,,,,,,fight the fight!!! you won't leave a winner anyway...

Thanks guys! I ended up ordering a pizza for my daughter and her boyfriend and I. We ate and then went and cleaned out my older daughters room. Now I am in bed writing and playing on the computer. I often confused "boredom" with absence of chaos. Having too many blank spaces in my life has ofeten proved to be extremely hazardous to my recovery. It's tough to strike a balance, and I struggle with this frequently. All of the suggestions above are excellent and helpful. Being "normal" isn't always comfortable, easy or even enjoyable. More than the gambling, my battle is silencing the voices in my head that lead to make choices alternative to what is in my best interest.
My suggestions: Find a cause, political or social, learn a new language, read an author's entire collection, journal, learn to sew, learn carpentry, volunteer for hospice. It's remarkable how many organizations will gladly take the time we once gave to the casino/track. Take care.
