Often we carry anger from past situations that any poor soul that gets in the line of fire gets the brunt of, tuning in to inner feelings and getting control over it is essential to having healthy inactions in all kinds of situations. Anger is not necessarily bad, there is a time and place to be angry. Having out of control angry episodes is not helpful to anyone.
Through anger management I realized that some of the people and situations I was still angry about were long gone, and anger wasn't hurting anyone but me.
For me, frequently, my anger that was being expressed but not being dealt with was tied to my being hurt physically and or emotionally. I was hanging on to the anger to promote my role as a victim, and to punish the evildoers. Both are unhealthy ways of dealing with anger, the evildoers were long gone and my continuing to be a victim wasn't ultimately helpful either.
Getting help was the only way I could get a handle on it and grow away from anger as tool/weapon/strategy. Through the process I gained other methods/tools/strategies for problem solving that work much better.
Go for it, (anger management, counseling, whatever) it can do nothing but help.
