Yesterday I took my dog to the groomers which was one street past the Casino that I frequented when in my addiction. I had to drop her off and then pick her up two hours later. That would have suited me just fine had it been two weeks ago. I have to admit I was pretty freaked out at the possibility of relapse. I tried to have my daughter come with me ( she is the one I told that I had a problem and made myself accountable to) she told me she had full faith in my ability to refrain and that she had to work. The good news is that I did it! I refrained from the Casino....rather than feeling elated and good though I felt almost sick and ashamed that I was so caught up in it all. I guess it is just doing what is in front of me and moving further away through the gift of time that is going to make me feel better.
