Exercise helps me tremendously but remains difficult for me to get motivated.(And is a common cross-addiction for recovered gamblers because of the dopamine it can generate.)
I have PAWS. (Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome) Which sometimes gives me not thoughts or urges to gamble but flashbacks of gambling. I understand it will lessen in intensity and frequency over time and dopamine levels will even out eventually. No matter what my dopamine levels are now, my life is much better after not gambling for nearly 14 months than it ever was before.
