Today marks 60 days clean for me. It has been a real challenge but I am so afraid of the alternative. I am a compulsive gambler and I know that if I go back I will be powerless over gambling. It took me a long time to really understand that sentence because I have tried to quit gambling for several years before.(I never did the steps before) But now what is different I think I finally hit rock bottom 2 months ago. I realized I gambled away all of my cash savings and I was lying to everyone and myself about my life. I was depressed all the time and very stressed out. And I was sick. My immune system was shot and I was on 4 antibiotics in 4 months.
The difference in just the past 2 months is I no longer go to the casino, I plan my weekends to be with other people that do not gamble or I will do things by myself (go to movies or shopping or knitting or reading) I exercise and I have made a pledge to be on a budget and not overspend.
