I will admit I am a habitual player. It is how I spend my free time. I have no family nearby; Ive been widowed for many years, there is little on television that does not insult my intelligence and I dont care for movies. I dont go out to eat, I dont crawl the mall, and I dont travel.
My triggers have been when something happens and there is no one to give me a hand. I was a victim in three car crashes in 2 years. The first the at fault driver paid for the damage to my car, but I was inconvenienced in getting replacement transportation while it was repaired; the second was an uninsured driver. I won a lawsuit, then she filed bankruptcy to keep from paying me. The last one totaled my beloved vehicle I had special ordered and promised to my granddaughter. I was compensated fairly for the loss of the vehicle, but then again there was the inconvenience. I am fortunate to not have been physically injured in any of them, but there is no compensation for the emotional damage.
A winter storm blew down my privacy fence, there was spring storm damage to my home, then my refrigerator went out and I learned Id have to pay federal taxes for the first time in ten years. There have been many other small things, but one behind the other. Enough to drive a teetotaler to drink but I ran away from home and escaped to the smoker friendly casino.
I am bitter
I do not take off work to gamble (go play) my bills are paid but I have little savings left, when I run out of cash I do not cruise around looking for someone to loan me twenty or ah hunnerd, I go home and weep, when I get significantly ahead ($100+) I leave happy.
Finding this site made me realize where I was headed though, and I am spending more time making potholders.

I have taken a long walk this morning and am trying to fill my day without becoming a willing a victim of that thief they call the one arm bandit ....
I keep telling myself that I don't have money to play, but as a true gambler I can find money just like any other addict out there. Although I may not steal, pond things, or sell sex , however I am no better than a person on the corner who is addicted to crack cocain.
After I identified this, I am begining a process that will involve support, GA and therapy in order to get to the underline root of my issues..
Thank you all for listening or shall I say reading
