Help Please

So, this is a first for me. All day I have been feeling very off. I am on day 12 which historically is the day I usually falter. I can definately tell my demon and my mindset wants to gamble. I have set up all the necessary road blocks, (self banned myself to all the casinos in the state, made it impossible to log into my endless amount of online gambling sites), but I cannot shake this feeling.

I literally can tell my system is craving it, any other time I would just do it, but I am tired of being sick and tired.

I need some advice, what do people do early in recovery to get over this feeling?

glad you made it through the rough patch. we have to do this by whatever means necessary. seems like you did what you had to do to make it through.......

I'm on day 14 and after self excluding from casinos and racinos I am feeling depressed at times and just want to sleep.

Good morning Logal - Sorry I am unable to actually refer you to your name, because you are nowhere near a loser. You joined this site and have been communicating to all of us, that makes you a winner in my and everyone else's book.

The sadness and sleepiness will come with this in the beginning stages I hear. For me it was in my first 5 days. Right now I am at the stage when i get HUGE mood swings spending money on entertainment that does not deal with gambling. When I see the money going to something that is not a sportsbet or a slot machine, I become a grump.

That is what I am trying to fix right now. Being able to get over the hump of not spending every dollar on a game.

More advice-this helped me. Try not to focus on your clean time in the beginning. Also playing games on a computer might give you urges. I did Suduko - with a pen and the books you buy at a store. Someone in GA said playing games on a computer might be a lot like playing machines and in all honesty it was. I also took up reading and playing on Facebook - a LOT! I was catching up with old friends and what not. I will admit I did play a silly game on there called Songpop which requires listening to music so it is different than other computer games. It is addictive though. Haha! I am trying to get back into a workout routine which I did faithfully before gambling took over my life but it is hard. I am happy that you were able to abstain and hopefully you stay on track!

I am so thankful that I found this website. All these comments have helped me soooo much. I have that ache to go gamble and have just been keeping myself busy as I can. I live in Las Vegas and am staying out of any gaming place. It is hard; the last time I gambled was on June 4th at 3 a.m. I really appreciate all of you helping me and each other. Just reading the comments keeps me sane!

Reading and posting has helps me a great deal. If you can quit gambling in Vegas there isn't much you can't do in life - I'm glad you are reclaiming yours.
