I can't believe it has been a year already. I am so happy that I made it, I give all the glory to God. It is still a battle at times. I almost gambled on line yesterday and I talked myself out of it and ran out of the house away from my computer. It's like I don't want to succeed. But today is better. And reading a post of someone who relapsed after 90 days and how bad they feel really helped, that could have been me. I come to this site daily, I read and reread, as I said before I don't want to forget. The urges are few and far between but when they hit they are strong. Thanks for all the support everyone. Today I will not gamble.

There is that inner gambler that does not want anything except the dopamine that gambling gives us, it is like a 3 year old wanting sweets before dinner, persistent and spoiled, good job running out of the house to keep the gambler at bay. You have learned to be the kind and firm parent to yourself that you need. Sometimes that feeling of accomplishment, or celebratory mood is the trigger for the inner gambler to try to get back to the addiction and the dopamine. Remembering the pain that gambling brought me is part of what keeps me from acting on those niggling thoughts to gamble and urges.
