Friends til the end Community Group
A group for those of us here who get more from our friendships than from the available discussion groups. A place to be accepted and appreciated for who we are. Somewhere to always feel safe and know that especially on the bad days we are here for each other .A place for encouragement and love.

When I was about 19 years old, I got into a car accident and while my car was in the shop, I needed to rent a car. My Dad said I needed to rent a stick shift, because I "HAVE to know how to drive a manual transmission". Back then, lots more cars were stick shift.
I understood the concept of switching gears, but I just couldn't get the hang of it, with the timing of the clutch and constantly switching gears and going in reverse and all of that.... too much to think about.
So, okay, I rented a stick shift Mustang for two weeks. It was a nightmare! I just couldn't get the hang of getting out of first gear and into second gear..... which proved dangerous while on the freeway (speed limit 65 mph) and stuck in first gear. When I pulled into a 7-11 store that was up a drive way, well of course there I gooooo, rolling backward.... about to crash into who knows who or what.
Needless to say, since I couldn't barely get out of 1st gear, I hardly drove anywhere during those 2 weeks. Couldn't wait to get my automatic car back and I never drove a stick shift again.
