Is it worth it?

I inherited a painting.  I had always wanted it and never gave any thought to value; I just loved the painting.  But now I am told it could be worth a lot of money.  Unless it is "Lottery" money I don't care to sell.


What would you call a lot of money?

That's entirely your call. What would X amount of dollars mean to your life vs how no longer being in possession of the painting would feel?

things that have value are always more valuable to their owner than the person trying to get it....that is when the owner does the unthinkable and decides to sell it....

I had a lot of money given to me after my Mom died....I did what I always wanted I bought myself a house....used money on fixing it up and now have no money....but my house is probably worth more now than what I have tied into it....but it is my home....I do not want to change the home I made...

I have seen people who learned things they have are worth more money than they every imagined on Antiques road show.....most of them are gobsmacked....but I do believe they hold onto those items...rather than taking the quick cash option....

I do think a million is a lot of money....more than I or my family have had perhaps? I do not know....I know dad had friends who had millions....and so did I.....I have a former AA sponsor who owns a portion of bank he inherited part of from his family that he sold although I do not know how much of it was his but the bank sold for 79million....part of that is now ownership in the bank that bought his well the one he had stock in and sweat equity but he no longer works there....he has stock in the current bank now as payment for selling the one his dad started....

Maybe $5000? I don’t know. I’m not a person who gets attached to things except family photographs maybe. Especially of my grandkids. But most anything else I would be willing to sell. I’ll keep hubby. Lol

I have a few items I could never put a price on: quilt from 1800's by my great great grandmother; Sunbonnet Sue Quilt with a special spin from my mom's mom; silver coin collection from my grandmother's dad. These are just a few items. Sometimes I wonder if donating the quilts to a museum would be better than handing them to the next generation (my cousin's children). Not sure they would value them as much.

    I did the dumbest thing today.  I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds.  I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym.  What a dummy!

    I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon
