Friends til the end Community Group
A group for those of us here who get more from our friendships than from the available discussion groups. A place to be accepted and appreciated for who we are. Somewhere to always feel safe and know that especially on the bad days we are here for each other .A place for encouragement and love.

My mom holds grudges against people for decades.... even long after they're dead. Which makes no sense to me. Like, my grandfather (her ex-FIL) whom died over 30 yrs ago...she still rants and raves about the dead guy. And she still spirals about my dad -whom she hasn't seen in 30 yrs (divorced) and whom has died 9 yrs ago. Like, these people are long dead, haven't been in our lives for decades, and will NEVER be again. But they live rent free in her head and wreck her peace and sanity. Her physical health is a wreck, too (she has heart failure).
Hate and anger is very corrosive. Let it go for your own good. Like At peace says you don't have to contact the person or tell them. Having no contact with a toxic person is better for you anyway.
It isn't worth holding onto bitterness your whole life and wrecking your health. It is best to let go of them and live your life and be happy. I told mom this, but she is adamant that they deserve to be held accountable. Like, "Mom... they're dead. They met their Maker and paid for their sins. Justice is served!" Live on and be happy!
I am a survivor of SA (while active duty in the Marines). And I grew up with a bipolar mother and a schizophrenic father. And then married my ex husband who was an abusive alcoholic. Growing up in an abusive home left me prone to marrying an abuser. But all that is behind me and I refuse to hold onto anger and resentment. I trust in my God that he is a God of Justice. I let go of it and I feel so blessed.... and so grateful for the life I have today.
