Friends til the end Community Group
A group for those of us here who get more from our friendships than from the available discussion groups. A place to be accepted and appreciated for who we are. Somewhere to always feel safe and know that especially on the bad days we are here for each other .A place for encouragement and love.

I really didn't know what I wanted to be when I was 18 and spent my time in college taking a variety of courses in all different subjects from archaeology to physics....eventually I majored in social work which I loved. I worked in social work, until I became ill and could no longer work.

I wanted to teach. My mom and dad divorced though and I had to go to work to help support my mom and brothers after graduation. I decided I'd have to work twice as hard , but that I'd be okay. I worked a lot of overtime and sometimes two jobs but I survived-LOL. Life isn't fair sometimes. I worked as a machinist after several years in convenience stores, and then somehow ending up cooking...not sure how that happened, but I was kitchen manager for the last 15 years. Then Guillain Barre hit...

I wanted to cook......i ended up being more interested in growing food and things then what i did in cooking! But ive done lots of different jobs from kitchen, bar work (i was 15 when i did that still in school at the local pub!) Tree planting, working in shops, seed collecting of native plants.....to getting my gardening qualifications! ! I now work full time as a gardener!

Sadly, my Dad was buried on my 18th birthday. We were waiting for my Brother to get back from his active tour ~ Vietnam was going on. I called the Red Cross; they got my message to him. It took him 72 hours to get back home. He came in at 10pm, the last hour of the last night of a 3-day wake. It was surreal; I cried for the 1st time when he walked in. I left for California a month later. I needed time to grieve and figure out what the hell I was going to do next. My Dad will forever be my Friend and Hero. He loved everyone and they loved him back.

89FToday it is again another hot day but cooler then yesterday. Since this is August it is to be expected in my neck of the woods. All the grass is yellow and flowers are starting to go to seed. I need to water my garden but this time of the year I'm so over it, which is weird because all my plants have their fruit or veggies.Sandra, this time of year reminds me of your Dad and his toms. We'd...
