Foster Care Support Group
Foster care is a system by which a certified, stand-in parent(s) cares for minor children or young peoples who have been removed from their birth parents or other custodial adults by state authority. Responsibility for the young person is assumed by the relevant governmental authority and a placement with another family found.
Back story. FS and I have no biological relation. However, when he was taken in to care by CPS his dad was dating my crazy sister. My sister and I have next to no relationship. She is a drug addict with more mental problems than I can keep track of.
After FS was removed they broke up and BD is currently in jail.
About two months ago my SW called to ask me if I had been letting FS go to my sisters alone. I said no, of course not. I won't let my own daughter go there alone either. She said she didn't think so but there had been a complaint.
So she calls back tonight to tell me that they had been investigating us and that the advocate on the investigation emailed her saying they have proof I have been letting FS go to my sisters house every other weekend where she has been beating him. WTF?!?!?! And now they may take FS from our care and charge us with endangering his well being.
He has NEVER been there unattended. He has only been there once in the past two months and that was with me when I stopped by to check on my sister with my mum. I want to know what proof it is they have. Advocate was emailed my phone number tonight and she had better call me tomorrow. This has never happened so I have no idea what proof they have. And I work with small children, so a claim like this could ruin more than just my foster care relationship.
I am so angry I feel ill. I'm stressed out now and I know there will be no sleep for me tonight. I don't know how this even happened. I want to go back tonight and write down where we were every weekend as far back as I can remember, but my memory sucks and that tops out at about two weekends ago.

But I got good news today. The investigator sent the report with the 'proof' to my FS social worker. She said it was a hot mess and within ten minutes of calling the investigator and ripping all said proof and messed up facts to shreds they dropped the issue. The will not be pursuing it further.
Will it be at the back of my mind from now until he leaves us in July? Yes. Will I be crazy careful about him being around my sister? Yes. Will I be able to keep them 100% seperate? No. But I'm going to do my best to make sure that I they are never alone, not even in his room putting away his new toys at Christmas. Because I have a feeling I haven't heard the last of this outlandish complaint or the investigator who so badly want's to pin this on me for some reason.
