Anyone else going through this experience?

In Texas I'm told little about the current situation but I am expected to jump at no notice for visits changes etc. I'm out of pocket caring for 2 kids that were here very short term and the CPS worker knew this but told me I would have them 3 to 5 months. I know the judges have the final call. The child told me that she would be leaving and the case worker denied it but sure enough everything the child told me was true. I am foster to adopt but it seems they want for emergency placement and I see children returned to really horrific circumstances that they came from. After my current child ( he will be returned to parents and these were horrible conditions) I'm thinking of quitting. I really wanted to help children and adopt but I see most of the children returning and a bleak future for the cildren so I'm accomplishing nothing. I care about the children and give them the best. Antone else in Texas experience this or is just this area I'm in?

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through this. I have been going through it for the longest and all i can say is stay strong and don't give up. We as foster parents have very few to no rights. Its a bigger fight to fight and that to have the system changed. These programs aren't built to have the child's best interest and that's what it needs to be. Being with your biological parent isn't always what's in the child's best interest.

It's scary how similar our case is. My wife and I live in Texas, and are a Foster to Adopt home. We completed our training about a year and a half ago. We finally got a placement on October 15, 2013. 3 month old boy, healthy, happy. No children of our own, this boy is has been our world since his first night here. As of today at 6:30pm, he has officially lived with us longer than his biological mother. Its just tough when this day comes and you feel that no one involved in deciding where he ends up truly cares about this little family, or even bothers to check up on how he's doing. He'd been here a MONTH before someone contacted us. The first time we spoke with the cps worker, was to tell us that the mother had checked herself into rehab and has passed her first drug test earning herself a visit. I just kept telling my crying wife at least we know something and we knew this would happen. In the time before that call I'd already done my research and seemed to me pretty open and shut...he had his 3rd visit today, the last was 2 weeks before Christmas. The first time I've heard from anyone since visit #2 was today, a text, while my wife and I were at work and little man was in daycare, the cps worker who hasn't returned a phone call since mid December 2013, TEXTED ME, to say "I'm having him picked up from daycare, visit with mom, I'm giving y'alls address to the woman driving she'll drop him off around 5pm." When I asked her why we weren't notified we could have packed him some toys and an extra bottle in case mom wanted to feed him" well...I'm still waiting on that reply. Instead I get a call from a frantic woman I'd never spoken to before 20 min later saying he was just too fussy today so the visit was cut short and could she drop him at my office because it was closer to where they were. I'm glad she could hear me reply yes, over the sound of the screaming baby in the car with her. My only good feeling on this special day was she walked in with him face red and soaked from tears and as soon as she handed him to me he started laughing and taking pens out of my front pocket ...This is something I would have loved our actual cps worker assigned to the case to see, but she hasn't actually been to one of these visits yet. Always tells us she's busy and she's having someone from the office drive him. We've had one home visit, 2 returned emails, not one call back, and I've now missed work twice to take him to a court house an hour away to do a paternity test because each of the only two emails we've gotten said they found another possible father however once we arrive, none of them ever shows up so we get sent home. Still haven't seen a courtroom or been notified of any upcoming dates. Since this rehab wasn't court ordered or anything, I'm assuming since she's checked herself out early (again) then one might be coming up.... I didn't mean to rant... I'll say in closing, we started all this because we can't have children. They know that. I pushed my wife into a CPS adoption because I felt that we might have a chance to show a chance to show a child that though this world can be evil, you can still love someone for no other reason than because everyone deserves to be loved. We waited, because though we don't always turn to God for answers as we should we both felt that he was picking the right one for us and we hadn't been forgotten. When I got the call while I was at work a baby boy was on his way, I didn't think to ask what color he was or if he had all his check ups because I couldn't quit thinking of how beautiful his name was and that my wife was going to flip when I tell her. And once the driver left, and I got to walk that 3 month old baby thru each room of our house while my wife called her mother from the kitchen in tears I felt like there was nothing I wouldn't do to protect him from whatever evil he just came from. All this we do, because nothing beats knowing all it took was for him to see me and hold my some pins to stop him from crying. if he leaves us, I want it to be because his mother loved him enough to do whatever it took get him back, not because one lazy cps worker wanted to get a gold star for reunification. I keep believing this will get better, that it will all be worth it in the end. I just hope before it's all said and done I get a little bit more than a text saying someone will be picking him up for good.
