Food Addiction Support Group
An individual suffering from a food addiction disorder frequently experiences episodes of uncontrolled eating, or binging, during which they may feel frenzied or out of control. They will eat much more quickly than is normal, and continue to eat even past the point of being uncomfortably full. Binging in this way is generally followed by a period of intense guilt feelings...

Years ago when Doug Hirsch first started this web sight, it had everything you could possibly want. It had audio and vidio instant chat, like facebook has, which came in handy because you had instant access to someone on the other end. If you needed to vent or if you wanted to bounce an idea off another human who had a problem similar to yours, then you could share that information without having to wait.
In the depression group, many lives were saved as suicidal people could instantly speak to someone who could show them why they needed to stay alive, I personally know of 3 people whose lives were saved because there was a compassionate person on the other end willing to listen to them. There were probably many more but those were just the ones I had something to do with.
It had a very user friendly home page that made it tremendously easy to navigate. The community was huge but when instant chat was taken away from us, many members left. I keep in touch with a few of them on facebook.
But times change and Doug moved on after selling this site to Sharecare (owned by Dr Oz) Many changes were made and we all had to navigate to were we are now. All the photos I had at the original site were lost in cyberspace apparently but I did get all of my journal entries back, and I am thankful for that. That way I can see how I evolved from who I was 10 years ago, to who I am now. The changes I see in myself are like night and day!
Thats about it. Good luck with your project
God Bless
I know I have left a few groups here because I did not like what I was seeing in people who were struggling there.....selfish? yes I bet it was....but no point in bringing myself down with a bunch of things that are not fun to talk about.....
this group also has another community group I created called you are what you eat.....look inside the community groups you will find more people participating here....
bob said a lot of course and I have been here about as long as he has.....I came in like Sept 2010.....
Now as far as attending in-person or online groups, a lot of it is how the group is run. Sometimes groups turn people off because the leader doesn't lead in a way that meets attendees needs. Leaders can be all about themselves or the group is there to glorify themselves and people don't stick around. Or the topics or information doesn't really work so people don't attend. Sometimes meeting in-person where you know the real name and the face encourages people to stick it out. It is that human to human connection that Bob mentioned. Whereas writing in to an anonymous forum like this (or others) may be difficult for some people. Those who have trouble with writing or language or reading may struggle on online forums. If there is no "meat" on a forum or support group, people are turned off. I have gone to a certain website where ONE person answers all the responses and takes up all the room. Anyone can respond but this one person absolutely takes over and has personal conversations with the person posting the questions to where no one else is invited in or allowed in. Her advice is very self serving and ignorant, and I noticed that rarely does anyone else answer due to this one person taking over. Then she has long, and I mean 100's of back and forths with the people she is posting on the support group forum with. I found myself going away....
