It sounds like you're one of the 'pendulum people' who correct one thing - in your case, the obsession over calorie counting - and then find themselves having gone too far in the other direction.
I think the key is to battle this on two fronts: work on changing behaviors, a little at a time, and work on figuring out those underlying issues.
