Food Addiction Support Group
An individual suffering from a food addiction disorder frequently experiences episodes of uncontrolled eating, or binging, during which they may feel frenzied or out of control. They will eat much more quickly than is normal, and continue to eat even past the point of being uncomfortably full. Binging in this way is generally followed by a period of intense guilt feelings...
but i guess it depends on the people in your life - i'm lucky i guess in that i have some good friends. even so .... it was scary just thinking about telling them. but, i felt such a relief when i finally started to tell those closest to me.
PEACE,
NICOL
so basically, she was sympathetic but it didnt help me to tell her. i prefer to just share my problem with my ds friends cuz i know they'll understand!
now whether or not to tell my boyfriend, i'm still debating on that. i know i'll tell him eventually, just not right now. also, i need to figure out what healthy eating looks like for me. i don't feel like the solution to binging is restricting. i need to create a healthy attitude towards food. and i would still like to enjoy what i eat. because afterall, healthy things taste good too.
right now, i don't think i'm going to tell any of my friends. i work with a bunch of women who are pregnant and are totally consumed with weight. you walk into the office and you can feel the tension. plus, they all are naturally thin and just won't get it. i love 'em to death, but they have no idea what it's like to be heavy.
my mom has always been obsesss with weight as well. her first husband influenced her thoughts about herself and that carried on over to me and her second marriage. good thing was that my father loved us unconditionally. but i was still very aware that i was bigger than the other kids and i was doing weight watchers by the time i was 12. that just pisses me off.
thanks so much for sharing your experiences with me! i'd still like to hear more if anyone feels inclined to share. i'm just starting all of this.
