Food Addiction Support Group
An individual suffering from a food addiction disorder frequently experiences episodes of uncontrolled eating, or binging, during which they may feel frenzied or out of control. They will eat much more quickly than is normal, and continue to eat even past the point of being uncomfortably full. Binging in this way is generally followed by a period of intense guilt feelings...
I feel kind of like a hypocrite saying it, because when I was in college I would never have gone into the health center and asked for help about anything, or gone to my academic counselor, or mentors, because I thought they were clueless; I truly thought they would have no idea about peer pressure, sex, alcohol, stress, anything at all. I think I thought that my generation invented all those things.....
.........but now I know that they're already seen it all. If you approach your college resources, either faculty or support staff, you will not be the first person to come to them with an eating disorder and depression.
And in the meantime, think about this: if someone you loved screwed up, and knew it, and admitted it, and wanted to do better, would you give up on them? If the answer's no, then.....you can't give up on yourself either.
Please find that real-life person. You might benefit from a short time on an antidepressant just to turn this around. You do, totally, have control over this step, you can make a call today, and then let us know. You can do this.
