I am pre diabetic. the doctor said I can lose weight , but that doesn't mean I can reverse the way my body is working. she said that some people just don't react well with the insulin they have(para phrasing). So, that scared me. I am now trying to get my weight down and also watch how many carbs I have in a day. I picked a diet that has a bit over on the carbs than the American diabetes Assoc. recommends. I found it in a cookbook with the American Diabetes food list. I thought the diet was theirs until I read an article that stated we are to eat between 180 - 190 carbs a day. this plan for 1800 cal is 225 carbs.. I wanted a good amt of food so I would not feel deprived. i don;'t usually eat the bed time snack so that cuts the carbs to about 200. still a bit more than is recommended. meanwhile the good news is I've lost a lot of weight for me in less than 60 day.
I was 175 lbs when I started..
Now 166.0 lbs.

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

Treats. .that can be hard to stop.. I need to look at my cookbook for ones that are low carb and sugar. I have a new one that does that it's for diabetics. Yet, I haven't made one thing from it yet. LOL
I think the exercise and coordination is great with the juggling. You'll get to 3 balls. keep enjoying it. especially if it helps reduce stress.
I skipped my zumba class on Wednesday. I had an eye exam and with dilated eyes I wasn't sure I should do it. plus I was exhausted & had another dr's appt after the class. Fun Friday . I really enjoyed . It's help me get back on track a bit. I'm looking forward to this weeks classes.
Even with the gluten-free and refined sugar-free snacks, I have to keep in mind the calorie count. A 95 calorie cookie can be a dangerous thing if it's just enough to put my limit over the edge in a given day. It's so much more rewarding to share snacks that are healthier though. Just yesterday I took a container of cookies to some friends and they enjoyed the idea that the only sugar in them was from the cacao chips... still a bit of sugar but much healthier than they might have been otherwise.
Usually, I scour the internet for recipes and tips on either getting healthier recipes or converting ingredients to cut out refined sugar and gluten. Hope your zumba class is fun this week. I start up my last semester of school classes so will be working to keep some exercise in the schedule too. I just hate when I get obsessed with school. It would be so nice to maintain a healthy balance this semester.
I'm doing ok. losing some of that weight I gained after the holidays. I think the exercise is helping. I've also been doing dvd's at home.. So hoping to keep in shape and get back on track.
My sugar substitute go to is "stevia." Just got those three holiday pounds back off and working toward my goal again. Sounds like you're doing the same. Yes, exercise sure does seem to help us get stronger and get our shape back. Here's to meeting our goals! :)
I understand about being tired. I hope you are able to do what you want to.this year. Good luck in school
I do know when i first started to exercise, i needed a nap afterwards. so do not get discouraged if you feel really tired at first and want to eat a more. It subsides and then you have more energy and don't want to eat as much . You can do this.
